Epitalon

Telomerase activator for cellular aging

Epitalon (Epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on Epithalamin, a naturally occurring peptide produced by the pineal gland. It is studied primarily for its ability to activate telomerase, the enzyme that maintains telomere length — a key biomarker of cellular aging.

⚙️ Mechanism of Action

Epitalon activates telomerase in somatic cells, enabling them to maintain or restore telomere length during cell division. It also regulates melatonin production and modulates the neuroendocrine system.

Benefits

  • Telomerase activation and telomere maintenance
  • Improved melatonin production and circadian rhythm
  • Potential lifespan extension (animal studies)
  • Antioxidant and DNA repair support
  • Improved retinal health (animal studies)

⚠️ Risks & Considerations

  • Primarily animal study data
  • Unknown long-term safety in humans
  • Theoretical cancer risk (telomerase in cancer cells)
  • Not FDA-approved
