Epitalon
Telomerase activator for cellular aging
Epitalon (Epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide based on Epithalamin, a naturally occurring peptide produced by the pineal gland. It is studied primarily for its ability to activate telomerase, the enzyme that maintains telomere length — a key biomarker of cellular aging.
⚙️ Mechanism of Action
Epitalon activates telomerase in somatic cells, enabling them to maintain or restore telomere length during cell division. It also regulates melatonin production and modulates the neuroendocrine system.
✅ Benefits
- •Telomerase activation and telomere maintenance
- •Improved melatonin production and circadian rhythm
- •Potential lifespan extension (animal studies)
- •Antioxidant and DNA repair support
- •Improved retinal health (animal studies)
⚠️ Risks & Considerations
- •Primarily animal study data
- •Unknown long-term safety in humans
- •Theoretical cancer risk (telomerase in cancer cells)
- •Not FDA-approved
