Melanocortin agonist for sexual function
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a synthetic peptide analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Unlike PDE5 inhibitors, it works through the central nervous system to enhance sexual desire and arousal. FDA-approved as Vyleesi for female hypoactive sexual desire disorder.

PT-141 activates melanocortin-4 receptors (MC4R) in the hypothalamus, directly stimulating sexual arousal pathways in the brain rather than acting on the vascular system.
